X-Rays and the Circinus Pulsar

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Circinus pulsar, PSR B1509-58, is a rapidly spinning, magnetized neutron star 19,000 light-years away. Like the Crab Nebula pulsar, it is a bizarre stellar corpse. This false-color Chandra Observatory image shows the environment around this cosmic powerhouse glowing in high-energy X-rays. The pulsar itself is thought to generate more than 7 quadrillion volts.
