COSMIC MESSAGE
An aurora glows above the city of Winnipeg, Canada. Over several months, the Sun produced multiple coronal mass ejections, or CMEs, sending particles sweeping past Earth. One such CME on October 9 impacted Earth on October 11 and 12, causing nearly 12 hours of auroras. This aurora was bright enough to be seen over the city lights.
