The Stingray Nebula is the youngest planetary nebula we know. In the 1970s, astronomers saw no nebula, but by 1996, the Hubble Space Telescope clearly showed its bubbles and rings. This gas is energized by a hot central star as it nears the end of its life. The nebula gets its name from its graceful, symmetrical curves.
