The Moon is covered in a layer of powdery lunar soil, or regolith, created by a long history of micrometeorite bombardment. On Earth, rocks are weathered by wind and water, but on the Moon, impacts are the primary force. While this regolith holds scientific and industrial potential, it posed a significant problem for Apollo astronauts. Apollo 17 astronauts Harrison Schmitt and Eugene Cernan used duct tape to clean their dusty suits in December 1972.
