The Holographic Principle

NASA APOD · E. Winfree, K. Fleischer, A. Barr et al. (Caltech)
COSMIC MESSAGE

The holographic principle, an unproven theory in physics, suggests that the information content of a region depends on the area of its boundary, not its volume. This image, for example, would contain a finite amount of information based on its surface. It challenges our intuitive understanding of information storage in the universe.
