COSMIC MESSAGE
The star system GK Per is associated with two of the three nebulas pictured here. At its center is a white dwarf star, the remnant of a Sun-like star. It is surrounded by the circular Firework nebula, gas ejected by a thermonuclear explosion, a nova, recorded in 1901. This system is 1500 light-years distant in Perseus.
