On May 2nd, two large clouds of energetic particles erupted from the Sun. These events, known as coronal mass ejections, appeared as large 'bubbles' in the solar corona. They blasted away from the solar surface almost simultaneously. The Sun is a dynamic star, constantly releasing energy and particles into space.
