The Andromeda Galaxy, also known as M31, is the most distant object visible to the unaided eye. It is about two million light-years away. This telescopic image reveals its bright yellow nucleus, dark dust lanes, and blue spiral arms. Andromeda is an immense spiral galaxy in the constellation of the same name.
