COSMIC MESSAGE
The Tarantula Nebula, over a thousand light-years across, sits in our neighboring galaxy, the Large Magellanic Cloud. Inside this giant stellar nursery, the central R136 cluster of massive stars energizes the nebular glow. Their intense radiation and strong winds sculpt the spidery filaments we see. This mosaic was taken by the Wide-Field Imager camera on ESO's 2.2 meter telescope.
