The Moon & Venus Over Geneva

NASA APOD · Gregory Giuliani (AstroImagine)
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Moon, fresh from a recent encounter with the Sun, appeared to threaten Venus. The waxing Moon seemed to glide past, just a few degrees away. Venus is much further from Earth than the Moon, so the passing was an angular illusion. This image, taken on June 13, shows the crescent Moon and Venus between clouds above the city lights of Geneva, Switzerland, as the sunset fades.
