NGC 6188: Dragons of Ara

COSMIC MESSAGE
In the southern constellation Ara, the Altar, thin gas and dust form the intricate shapes of NGC 6188. This emission nebula is about 4,000 light-years away, near the edge of a vast molecular cloud that's invisible to us. Massive, young stars, only a few million years old, are sculpting these dark forms and powering the nebula's glow.
