NGC 4945 is a spiral galaxy in the Centaurus Group, only six times farther away than the Andromeda Galaxy. It is oriented nearly edge-on and shrouded in dark dust, making it difficult to see without a telescope. This image was taken with a large telescope testing a new wide-angle, high-resolution CCD camera.
