X-Rays From Tycho's Supernova Remnant

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

In 1572, Tycho Brahe observed a new bright star in Cassiopeia. This star, now known as Tycho's Supernova Remnant, faded over months and is believed to have been a supernova. This detailed false-color X-ray image from the Chandra Observatory shows the expanding debris cloud. The highest energy X-rays, represented in blue, indicate shockwaves.
