X-Ray Mystery in RCW 38
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
Star cluster RCW 38, 6,000 light-years away in Vela, is full of powerful, young stars. These stars, only a million years old, appear as point-like X-ray sources in this Chandra Observatory image. The diffuse cloud of X-rays surrounding them, however, is a bit of a mystery.
