COSMIC MESSAGE
The Crescent Nebula, seen on the right, was formed by the star WR 136 at its center. This massive star began shedding its outer layers about 250,000 years ago, ejecting the equivalent of our Sun's mass every 10,000 years. This strong stellar wind impacted the surrounding gas and dust, creating the nebula's distinct shape. WR 136 is a Wolf-Rayet star, a type of star known for its powerful stellar winds.
