Magma Bubbles from Mt. Etna

NASA APOD · Stromboli online
COSMIC MESSAGE

In 2001, Mount Etna erupted, expelling bubbles of hot magma, some over a meter across. Planetary geologists study Etna because it resembles volcanoes on Mars. This basalt volcano, located in Sicily, Italy, produces lava channels similar to those found on the Red Planet.
