HD70642: A Star with Similar Planets

NASA APOD · David A. Hardy, PPARC
COSMIC MESSAGE

Astronomers have found a star, HD70642, with a planetary system more like our own than any previously known. This bright star in Puppis is similar to our Sun. A planet twice Jupiter's mass orbits it in a nearly circular path, about half Jupiter's orbital distance. This arrangement leaves room for smaller, potentially habitable planets closer to the star.
