Aurora Over Cape Cod
NASA APOD · Chris Cook
COSMIC MESSAGE
Colorful aurora pillars danced over Cape Cod Bay last month, with the lights of Provincetown, Massachusetts, in the center. The unusual red colors of the aurora reflected slightly off the water. Several constellations are visible in the sky, including the W-shape of Cassiopeia on the far right. This display was a result of charged particles from the Sun interacting with Earth's magnetic field.
