The Galactic Center in Infrared
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
The center of our galaxy is a crowded place, usually obscured by dust in visible light. In infrared, however, dust glows more and blocks less, revealing nearly a million stars in this image. The Galactic Center is about 30,000 light-years away in Sagittarius. The dark lane identifies the Galactic Plane, where our Sun orbits.
