COSMIC MESSAGE
What would it be like to stand atop the tallest mountain on Earth? This panoramic view from Mt. Everest shows snow-peaked mountains, tremendous cliffs, distant plateaus, and the tops of clouds. Everest stands 8.85 kilometers above sea level. This is roughly the maximum height reached by international airplane flights, but far less than the 300 kilometers achieved by a space shuttle.
