NASA APOD · K. Strassmeier (U. Wien), Coude Feed Telescope, AURA, NOAO, NSF
COSMIC MESSAGE

HD 12545, also known as XX Trianguli, is a giant star with starspots much larger than any seen on our Sun. This false-color image was created using Doppler imaging, which measures changes in light from the star's rotation. The large spots are cooler, darker regions on the star's surface.
