A Lenticular Cloud Over Hawai'i
NASA APOD · Peter Michaud
(Gemini Obs.)
COSMIC MESSAGE
This image shows a stack of lenticular clouds over Hawaii. These lens-shaped clouds form when moist air flows over a mountain range, creating waves in the atmosphere. As the air rises and cools at the crests of these waves, water vapor condenses into clouds, often stacking in layers.
