COSMIC MESSAGE
Open star clusters are collections of hundreds to thousands of stars that formed at roughly the same time. M35, in the upper left of this image, is a relatively young and diffuse cluster, about 2,800 light years away. NGC 2158, below and to the right, is an older and more compact cluster.
