Martian Surface in Perspective

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Spirit rover successfully drove off its lander and onto the floor of Gusev crater, beginning its exploration of Mars. This perspective view shows the Martian rocks and soil around the landing site. The robotic geologist will now closely examine these features for clues about their formation processes, using data recorded while the rover was still on its platform.
