A Spherule from the Earth's Moon
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
When a meteorite hits the Moon, it melts some of the rock. That molten rock can cool into tiny glass beads, like this one, only a quarter of a millimeter across. This particular spherule has an even smaller impact crater on its surface. Apollo missions brought many such beads back from the Moon, allowing us to study them up close.
