A Martian day, or sol, is about 39 minutes longer than an Earth day. The Spirit rover sent back this color image from Sol 5 of its mission on Mars. It shows a view looking north across the floor of Gusev Crater. The smooth, 9-meter-wide circular feature in the center is called Sleepy Hollow.
