Solar System Portrait

COSMIC MESSAGE

On Valentine's Day in 1990, the Voyager 1 spacecraft looked back at our Solar System from four billion miles away. It captured a 60-frame mosaic, creating the first-ever family portrait of our planetary neighborhood. This image shows a portion of that portrait, with planets like Venus, Earth, and Neptune visible. Voyager 1's wide-angle camera swept through the inner Solar System, connecting to the gas giants further out.
