NASA APOD · Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Orion Nebula, a stellar nursery, is about 1,500 light-years away. Its glowing gas surrounds hot, young stars at the edge of an immense interstellar molecular cloud. The 3.6-meter Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope on Mauna Kea captured this image of the nebula, which is visible to the unaided eye just below Orion's belt.
