COSMIC MESSAGE
Two young stars power these colorful interstellar gas clouds around Wolf-Rayet binary BAT99-49. The stars, hidden by thick dust, emit forceful ions and energetic radiation that cause the clouds to fragment and light up. This composite image from the European Southern Observatory's Melipal VLT telescope shows details in the nebula complex, with helium atoms in blue, oxygen atoms in green, and hydrogen atoms in red.
