COSMIC MESSAGE
In December 1972, Apollo 17 astronauts Eugene Cernan and Harrison Schmitt explored the Moon's Taurus-Littrow valley. They used a Lunar Roving Vehicle, seen here, to travel across the surface. This skeletal rover, about 10 feet long, carried astronauts and samples in the Moon's low gravity, making them the last humans to drive on the lunar surface.
