“Ringed Nebulae” is copyrighted by Tony and Daphne Hallas. NASA has permission to show it and we don't, so it isn't on this card.
See it on NASA's siteM57, the Ring Nebula, is a planetary nebula, a shell of gas shed by a dying central star. This wide view combines three exposures to show the inner, one-light-year span of the nebula and its fainter outer rings of glowing hydrogen. The image also captures a rich assortment of distant background galaxies.
