Looking Out Over Mars

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Spirit rover, from its perch in the Columbia Hills, looked out over the plains and distant rim of Gusev Crater on Mars. The rover found evidence that ancient water altered many rock shapes in this region. Both Spirit and its twin, Opportunity, have completed their primary three-month missions, continuing to explore the Martian landscape for signs of past water.
