The Star Trails of Kilimanjaro

At 16,000 feet on Mount Kilimanjaro, a photographer captured this three-and-a-half-hour exposure of star trails. The landscape is lit mostly by the stars, with tents glowing from flashlights. A greenish haze from distant city lights filters through clouds below. The view from this equatorial mountain looks south, with the South Celestial Pole near the horizon.
