COSMIC MESSAGE
Leo A is a dwarf irregular galaxy, one of the most common galaxy types in the universe. Dwarf irregulars are thought to be building blocks for larger galaxies like our Milky Way. This galaxy, about 2.5 million light-years away, was once thought to have a simple structure, but observations show it to be more complex. The image shows its scattered stars and gas, typical of its class.
