A Full Sky Multicolored Auroral Corona

NASA APOD · Philippe Moussette (Obs. Mont Cosmos)
COSMIC MESSAGE

On some nights, the sky itself puts on the best show. This fisheye view captures a particularly active and colorful auroral corona over Quebec, Canada. The vivid green, red, and blue colors come from high atmospheric oxygen and hydrogen reacting to incoming electrons. The aurora shows an unusual degree of detail, range of colors, and breadth across the sky.
