COSMIC MESSAGE
After sunset, a slender crescent Moon and the planet Mercury appeared low on the western horizon, joining the lights of Menton and Monaco. Astronomer Vincent Jacques captured this scene on March 11, when the Moon and Mercury were separated by just three degrees. A crescent Moon is always seen near the horizon, as is Mercury, which can be difficult to spot due to its proximity to the Sun's glare.
