Cassini Spacecraft Crosses Saturn's Ring Plane

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Saturn's rings are incredibly thin. When the Earth crosses the ring plane, the rings seem to disappear because we are looking at them edge-on. The Cassini spacecraft, orbiting Saturn, also crosses this plane, giving us a unique view of the planet without its prominent rings.
