X-Ray Stars of 47 Tuc

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

The globular cluster 47 Tucanae is packed with stars, and this Chandra X-ray image shows many of them are X-ray binaries. These systems often have a normal star orbiting an incredibly dense neutron star. One such exotic binary is 47 Tuc W, a neutron star with the mass of the Sun but the diameter of Manhattan Island.
