COSMIC MESSAGE
This panorama of the Moon's cratered surface comes from images sent by the US Surveyor 6 lander. Surveyor 6 was the first spacecraft to land on the Moon and then lift off again. In November 1967, after landing, NASA commanded it to fire its rocket engine, lifting it 4 meters and moving it 2.5 meters across the surface.
