COSMIC MESSAGE

Thor's Helmet is a cosmic bubble, blown by the wind from a Wolf-Rayet star. This massive, bright star is near the center of the helmet-shaped structure. The nebula, cataloged as NGC 2359, sits about 15,000 light-years away in Canis Major. It is thought to be in a brief, pre-supernova phase.
