Globular Cluster M3 from WIYN

COSMIC MESSAGE

M3 is a large globular cluster, a dense ball of about half a million stars, visible in the Northern Hemisphere. These stars are older than our Sun and Earth, having condensed in the early Milky Way. Light from M3 travels 35,000 years to reach us, revealing an ancient stellar population.
