Wind from a Black Hole
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
This is an artist's vision of GRO J1655-40, a binary system with a normal star and a black hole. The black hole, about seven times the Sun's mass, pulls material from its companion star into a swirling accretion disk. Chandra Observatory X-ray data show that a high-speed wind of material also escapes from this disk. The normal star in the system is about twice the mass of our Sun.
