The Antennae

NASA APOD · Daniel Verschatse (Antilhue Observatory)
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Antennae Galaxies, NGC 4038 and NGC 4039, are colliding some 60 million light-years away in the constellation Corvus. Stars in the two galaxies do not collide, but their large clouds of molecular gas and dust do. This triggers furious episodes of star formation. This stunning view reveals new star clusters and matter flung far from the scene by gravitational forces.
