A Leonid Meteor Over Sweden
NASA APOD · P-M Hedn
COSMIC MESSAGE
This past weekend, small bits of Comet Tempel-Tuttle lit up the skies over Earth as Leonid meteors. Reports indicate this year's shower was less active than in previous years. Nevertheless, some sky enthusiasts saw bursts of up to one visual meteor per minute. The comet leaves a trail of sand-sized particles every 33 years when it returns to the inner Solar System.
