Mercury's Transit: An Unusual Spot on the Sun
NASA APOD · David Cortner
COSMIC MESSAGE
What appears to be a small, dark, perfectly round spot on the Sun is actually the planet Mercury. This image captures a rare transit of Mercury across the Sun's face. Unlike a solar eclipse by our Moon, this event shows Mercury as a tiny dot, a silhouette against the star.
