Comet McNaught, the brightest comet in decades, was visible in both hemispheres in January 2007. This image shows its bright coma and sweeping tail over Lake Horowhenua in New Zealand. Captured by astronomer Noel Munford, it comes close to what the eye could see in the twilight sky.
