The Sombrero Galaxy in Infrared
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
The Sombrero Galaxy, one of the largest galaxies in the Virgo Cluster, has a prominent dark dust lane that usually obscures its mid-section in visible light. However, in infrared light, that dust lane glows brightly. The Spitzer Space Telescope captured this infrared glow, which is overlaid here in false-color on a Hubble Space Telescope image.
