A Rocket Debris Cloud Drifts

NASA APOD · Robert H. McNaught
COSMIC MESSAGE

This drifting cloud is not a nebula or an atmospheric phenomenon. It is expanding debris from a failed Russian rocket's upper stage, which unexpectedly exploded. Observers in the Southern Hemisphere could see it, and this time-lapse movie from Australia shows its movement.
