Castle and Sky

While Comet McNaught dominated southern skies, the conjunction of the Moon and Venus could be seen from both hemispheres. These two familiar celestial objects created this twilight scene, recorded above Almodovar near Cordoba in southern Spain. Brilliant Venus and a slender crescent Moon appear to overlook the small town and the well-lit Castle Almodovar, which began construction in the 700s.
