Venus Express, a robotic spacecraft, flew directly over the South Pole of Venus to investigate a massive swirling storm system. This infrared composite image shows Venus's daytime side on the left and nighttime side on the right. The vortex is similar to one recently imaged over Saturn's South Pole.
